In Working Group 2 we will analyse different forms of practices of deliberation in contemporary societies. This set includes the analysis of traditionally cultural-bound patterns of deliberation in the classic public spheres, in subaltern counter-publics, in the political, legal, and economic spheres, in art, civil society, in the digital sphere. The aim is also to shed new light on how different patterns of deliberation and notions of the common good are perpetuated and modified in the face of political, cultural, social and other tensions that mark contemporary societies.
We will:
- Map existing methodologies in studying culturally and cognitively embedded decision-making / aligning with the CHANGECODE initial work method
- Review and analyse the research on the impact of culturally and traditionally embedded practices on contemporary decision-making in different societal fields
- Create a comprehensive special issue of the journal based on the findings
- Participate in building a common research framework to study the impact of historical deliberative practices on contemporary decision-making
- Contribute and finalise the tool-kit with practices of deliberation

I see my contribution to CHANGECODE in presenting a challenging perspective, by sharing both my field and academic knowledge with the rest of the team; second, by subsidizing to the larger objective of the project, which aims “to advance systematize, conceptualize and epistemically upgrade theoretical and empirical knowledge of the influence of past practices of deliberation on contemporary decision-making” with my long archival experience; third, by subscribing to the project in terms of presenting a cross-cultural, multi-disciplinary experience; and finally, by promoting the values built around the project outcomes through project management, internationalization, and networking.
